Well, this is gonna be something.
I recently found myself involved in a sub-genre of miniature wargaming called Micro Armour or 6mm wargaming. This is TINY! Like 1/285th scale tiny! But this wargaming scale is perfect for games like Team Yankee if one wants to avoid the parking lot of armor sitting in a gun line blazing away!
It took me months of pondering where should I start? 1983? 1985? 1989-1990? 2007 or 2014 or even 2029+? I decided on the Russo-Georgian War of 2007. This five day war could of turned even wider and uglier if NATO intervened but it took Russian those 5 days to secure their long and short term goals but WHAT if their goals were far reaching? This would of been the call for NATO to intervene.
With Erdogon being Prime Minister of Turkey art the time; I doubt he would of intervened but would allow other NATO countries to intervene. Without a doubt with the Black Sea would of been closed down by the Russian Navy, only allowing the movement of troops through Turkey and across the Mediterranean Sea and air transport.
Meanwhile, with these parameters set, I went looking for my ideal battleground. One with town or towns, in a valley and open ground and a river and I came across Sulda, Georgia.
Sulda seems perfect as mentioned earlier. It is north of Turkey so NATO forces can easily reach Sulda from multiple directions. Another prerequisite for my choice.Sulda is situated in a wide, gentle valley or so it appears; this leaves both sides plenty of room to maneuver.
As well as Sulda is the nearby town of Bozali. Sulda is quite a large town.
Now to plotting. Using what is essentially 2 sheets of hex grid paper, I made what will be my 4x8 battle space that covers both Sulda and Bozali, keeps my river, have multiple entry points and hills to use for cover.
I am not going to be shooting for accuracy; especially where one inch equals one hundred meters which these maps are scaled to roughly about but it is still nice to see what is what and what color it may go.
Lots of farm fields and tree lines to make going interesting.
The immediate satellite view. This is going to be interesting.
