Well, anyway, I have been a warmer for 11 years and love the hobby. Now with some income from the commissions, I am ready to embark on the most ambitious project yet. A Gulf War themed Imperial Guard or for those new bloods, Astra Militarum force. I will be posting small tidbits in my thinking about this project beginning with the torso and heads that will be used.
First up; heads.
From Anvil Industries come these boonie hats. I think these will look great for a Delta like special operation team that will fill in the Tempestus Scion roll. They will not have the grav-chutes though. That will be for the "paras" although it is part of their regular wargear. I just won't field them as such.
Next comes these heads from Mad Robot Miniatures. Now these will make great heads for the Delta troops but these maybe more for SEALS. The jury is still out on that.
Next comes these from Anvil Industries. These also can be used for Delta but with the goggles, I may use these for another set of troops called Ogryns. Instead of a big meat head with child like intelligence, imagine large powered suits that are not as good as Adeptus Astartes (Space Marines for us veteran players) and with their size makes them easy to hit but it armored enough to soak the damage up. More on them later on in this post.
From Puppets War comes these heads that sadly seem to be going out of production so I bought 30 of them. I may buy more. These will cover infantry, rangers that will fill the veteran roll as well as officers.
Again from Mad Robot Miniatures comes these heads. These are Fritz Helm looking and I may use these strictly for the Rangers, leaving me plenty of the other heads to be used for everyone else say for paras and delta.
Again from Anvil Industries comes these torsos. I am going to use these for sure for just about every one but I think these maybe too modern to fit Gulf War but the idea is for the force to be a theme so I guess it will be okay.
Back to Mad Robot Miniatures. These torsos are similar to Anvil Industries but they seem slightly cleaner and bare of all gear which is good for me because I like doing personalizing gear on kits that allows it.
Back to Anvil Industries comes these torsos. They are like the previous ones I had shown but are bare. But at the same time the front is different and I have no idea what to do with them.
Now comes the unusual aspect of this project. These "Termsos" armor I feel wold make a great looking "Ogryn" that fits the mechanized look and aspect of this force. Tomorrow's post will be the arms. If you have any questions or comments, leave them here. https://www.facebook.com/theofficerfactory/
Recently, I was just made aware of another torso set that I somehow missed. Thanks to Remi Solanke for pointing this out to me, I will add it to this list as a potential source for torsos to get for my force.

Have yiu seen this new group of torsos Anvil is selling? You previous might get One of these in their PMC packs but now you can get a whole group 😉👍🏾 http://anvilindustry.co.uk/plate-carrier-torsos
ReplyDeleteHow did I miss that! Thanks. I will add it to this list with credit to you for pointing this out.
