August 23rd battle. 41 PL. Albion Grenadier Guards vs Death Guard

I am still getting a hang of 8th edition. I manage to squeeze in 3 battles but so far, I am 1-2. Tactical errors and such keeps on throwing me off big time. Well, enough of that. This battle is the first outing of our WW2 british empire themed Albion Grenadier Guards and the first time the Death Guard goes out fully painted. I am not one for army lists but here it goes.

I had used the Open War Card Deck to choose our deployment, objectives and such but for the life of me, I can't remember. All I can recall is that the deployment zones had 12" on the sides of the table and came to a point at the middle.
This worked against me big time for it allowed the death guar to close on me far faster than what I would of liked.

The Malignant Plaguecaster. His 2 disciplines for this game were Gift of Contagion and Plague Wind.

One of 2 Pox Walkers. These guys while painting them physically made me sick and the agony of painting them was dragged out. I was SO PLEASED when I finished them.

The heavy weapons team. The containers are the objectives that I must find/ claim/ reclaim and there are 6 of them. They are from Dust Tactics.

Austral Squad 1. I split them into 2 groups but still within the 3" minimum for squad cohesion.

The Ogryns and the Salamander took up the right flank.

     The left flank.

The heavy weapons team was wiped out by the Plague Marines and they charged towards the Leman Russ. To protect her, the Australs charged in.

And this is the result. 4 dead; morale broke and they ran.

Turn 2. The "Giovanni's" came in, stopped this group of Pox Walkers from hitting the right flank and this is the result at the end of turn 3. Not a single man lost. These guys costed me a few games back when I was the Tau Empire many years ago.

The beginnings of a failed attack. These 3 Ogryns charged the Lord of Contagion but all 3 died but they cut half of his wounds.

To save the center flank, I foolishly had the Leman Russ constantly attack the Plague Marines. Yeah, a lot of good that was doing.

The Foeteid Bloat-drone was open to attack the center after many failed attempts to bring it down.

Towards the end of the game, the 2nd Pox Walker group attacked the Rough Riders as they came onto the field. That was a mistake.
Time for me was up and the Death Guard practically won. They destroyed more power points, had 3 objectives and contesting a 3rd.
During this game, as noted, I had made tactical errors and forgotten about the twist and sudden death and ruse cards. Oops. Well, we play to learn.
     Until next time.
